1. Airports, Sea Ports and ICD in Bangladesh:
Dhaka (DAC) is the main International Airport in Bangladesh for handling export and import Cargoes. The main Seaport is at Chittagong (CGP). The only Inland Container Depot (ICD) is located adjacent to Kamalapur, the main Railway Station in Dhaka city. The distance between DAC & CGP is around 270 k.m., which are connected by air, rail, road and river.
All activities of Prantik are controlled and directed from its Head Office located at Dhaka.
2. Documentary Requirements for Ocean Import Shipments into Bangladesh:

All required documents must reach Prantik at least 05 days before the arrival of shipments in Bangladesh. Consol pouch should contain OBL, HBL, Invoice, Packing List, Manifest etc. |

For all ocean imports, the ultimate Consignee’s name and address must be reflected on the IGM (Import General Manifest). IGM should be submitted at least 72 hours before the shipments arrive. |

Consol Pre-Alerts for Ocean Imports :
i) Pre-alert must contain the following information:
- MBL Number, Origin / Destination, Vessel details
- Shipper’s and Consignee’s name and address
- No. of Carton/boxes
- Weight / Volume/ Quantity
- Description of goods
- Freight Term (For collect shipment specify the currency and amount).
ii) For Ocean Imports, Pre-alert should be sent alongwith the copy of MBL, HBL, Manifest, Invoice, Packing List etc. Pre-alert can be sent through fax or e-mail at the following:

3. Documentary requirements for Air Imports shipments into Bangladesh:

Air shipments should be sent to Dhaka (DAC) only. No other airports in Bangladesh will be workable as customs clearance can presently be done at DAC airport only. |

At least 3 sets (1 original + 2 copies) of Shipper’s Invoice & Packing List duly signed & sealed by the supplier must accompany the cargo. The consol pouch should contain Original HAWB and Manifest. |

HAWB Requirements for Air Import:
| a) |
A separate HAWB is required for each shipment, even if the importers are sister concerns within the same group. |
| b) |
Each HAWB must contain the following information/ details: |

Shipper’s and Consignee’s name & addresses |
- |
Final destination alongwith Routing |
- |
Actual Freight Term |
- |
No. of Cartons, Gross Weight, Chargeable Weight, Dimensions etc. |
- |
Full description of goods and quantity as mentioned on the Commercial Invoice |
- |
Shipping Marks as mentioned on the Invoice and Packing List |
- |
List of all original documents accompanying the shipment. |
| c) |
Extra care should be taken in preparing the HAWBs. If any error is made and then corrected by handwriting or by typewriter, the correction must be authenticated with a “Correction Approved” seal and signature. |
| d) |
HAWBs must bear handwritten signature of the executing Offices/Agents on behalf of the shipper and as the carrier. |
| e) |
5 original copies of the HAWB are required. |
| f) |
HAWBs may not be rated, only to be shown as “AS AGREED” or “AS ARRANGED”. |
| g) |
If the HAWB is consigned to any Bank, then it must be released only upon receipt of proper Bank Endorsement. Failure to comply to this requirements may cause a big problem as the supplier in such cases may not get the payments from their bank. |

4. Documents required for Air export shipments:

The number of packages shown on the MAWB must reflect even the smallest external shipping package, not the Unit Load Devices (ULD). |

All the cartons / packages should be correctly marked / labeled with MAWB / HAWB Nos. |

Consol pouch should be accompanied with cargo / MAWB. Consol pouch should contain HAWB, Manifest, Shipping Documents, Debit / Credit Note etc. |

Manifest requirements For Air Export:
The description of goods on the Consol Manifest must exactly be the same, as on the HAWB.HAWB should also have the same details as in the Shipper’s Invoice.

The number of pieces shown in the MAWB & HAWB should also be the same on the Manifest. |

Final destination of the HAWB must be reflected on the manifest. |
- |
Consignee must appear on manifest under each HAWB. |
- |
Manifest must show actual chargeable weight of the consignment. |
- |
5 copies of the manifest to go forward. |
- |
All original shipping documents should be accompanied with the shipment in the consol pouch. |

5. Account
a) For Air Import : HAWB Collect is acceptable, but MAWB should be Prepaid.
b) For Sea Import : HBL collect is acceptable, but MBL should be Prepaid.
c) For Air Export : Both HAWB & MAWB can be Collect.
d) For Sea Export : Both HBL & MBL (or OB/L) can be Collect. |
